Teaching Middle School vs Adult Education

Angela's first day as a teacher.

Teaching is one of the most unpredictable, eye-opening, and humbling journeys one can take. Whether it's managing unexpected student behavior, navigating delicate conversations (like the importance of deodorant), communicating with families, building a meaningful curriculum, or juggling career growth with work-life balance, teaching demands that you wear a million hats, often all at once, and usually with a smile. Through her experiences teaching both youth and adults, Angela has learned the importance of being flexible, open, and deeply understanding of people from all walks of life. Adult learners, in particular, bring a rich diversity of experiences and perspectives to the classroom, which requires a teacher to listen more, judge less, and adapt constantly. Explore some of Angela’s resources and reflections as an educator—they're here to validate your journey and maybe offer a tool or two to make your own path a little lighter.
